Error 30908: how to fix a privacy policy rejection
Last checked against official sources: October 30, 2026. Carrier rules change, so check the source links before you resubmit.
What it means
Twilio files 30908 under "Compliant Privacy Policy Required." The reviewer either couldn't open a privacy policy for your business, or the one they found doesn't protect the phone numbers people give you. Carriers treat the policy as a promise to subscribers, so a missing or weak one stops the whole campaign.
Why it usually happens
- No privacy policy link was entered in the campaign, or the link is dead.
- The policy sits behind a login, or belongs to a different company (a template that still names someone else, or your software vendor's policy).
- The site has two or more policies that disagree with each other.
- The policy says you may share or sell contact details to partners, without carving out phone numbers and SMS consent.
- Nothing in the policy mentions text messaging at all.
How to fix it
- Publish one privacy policy on your own domain, linked from the footer and reachable without signing in.
- Add a short section about text messages: what you collect, why, how to stop (STOP) and get help (HELP), and that message frequency varies and carrier rates may apply.
- Add a clear non-sharing line stating that phone numbers and SMS consent are never given or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing.
- Remove or fix any older policy pages so there's only one version a reviewer could land on.
- Paste the exact policy URL into the campaign's privacy policy field and make sure your sign-up form links to it too.
- Edit and resubmit the rejected campaign rather than deleting it. A brand-new campaign means a new vetting fee and a fresh wait.
Example SMS section for a privacy policy
Text messaging If you opt in to texts from Lakeside Pet Grooming, we use your mobile number only to send the messages you asked for, such as appointment reminders. How often you hear from us depends on your bookings. Carrier message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or your text-message consent with any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional use.
Lakeside Pet Grooming is fictional. Use your real business name and message types.
Questions and answers
Can I use a free policy generator?
Yes, as long as you add a text-message section and a non-sharing line, and the result names your business, not the generator.
Does the policy have to be on my website?
It should be on the website registered for the brand. A link to some other company's policy is a common reason for this rejection.
I also got 30882 or 30934. Is that related?
Those are about your terms and conditions page. Fix the terms page in the same pass so you only resubmit once.
Is there exact wording carriers require?
There's no single mandatory script, but reviewers look for the ideas above: what you collect, how to opt out, and no sharing of numbers or consent.
Next step
Run your rejection text through the free checker to confirm nothing else was flagged. If you'd rather not rewrite the fields yourself, our approval packets cover the description, samples, opt-in wording and policy text. Carriers make the final call, so we can't promise approval, but we revise free until it goes through.
